Opening the 23rd International Exhibition of Wine and Winemaking Equipment “Vinistra 2016” in Poreč, the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, emphasized that “Vinistra” gives a strong contribution to the further branding of Istria as a wine region.
Stating that she is firmly committed to the decentralization of Croatia, both functionally and fiscally, President Grabar-Kitarović repeated that she believes that the current system of counties is an exceptionally good solution for Croatia. This system gave “Istria county and region status and enables its development, which with the support from Zagreb can be even faster and stronger,” said President Grabar-Kitarović. In support for this, she mentioned the project of developing Muzil, Pula Airport, the General Hospital in Pula, as well as Pula’s development as a port and the development of road and rail traffic.
“I believe that the Government will do everything to accelerate and reinforce these processes and strategic projects,” said the President of Croatia and mentioned the development of the Brijuni Islands, which “should be opened up to people.” “This wine story is a splendid one, but we have good wine on Vanga as well,” said President Grabar-Kitarović. She expressed her satisfaction that from year to year “Vinistra” attracts an increasing number of winemakers, wine connoisseurs and people who manufacture wine equipment.
